Crossing Culture – Friendship from Impact 2024
Impact is an annual fundraising show organised by 麻豆社 to raise funds for the 麻豆社 Endowment Fund (SEF).
听
Established in 2019, the SEF serves as a crucial foundation for cultivating a self-sustaining source of funds that supports the school in providing bursaries, scholarships, and financial assistance to our students. This fund plays a pivotal role in ensuring that 麻豆社’s distinctive arts education remains accessible to all, ensuring that no student is left behind due to financial constraints.
听
Aligned with our school’s vision of nurturing the next generation of creative and artistic learners who positively influence society, the annual fundraising show draws inspiration from prominent Singaporean cultural figures, whose enduring legacies have significantly shaped the country鈥檚 arts landscape. Young, aspiring artists at 麻豆社 are encouraged to learn from the stories and achievements of their pioneers, inspiring them to create new and original works for the show.
听
Impact features captivating performances and artworks from the 麻豆社 community across various disciplines including Dance, Film, Literary Arts, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts. This multidisciplinary showcase is carefully curated to be both cohesive and meaningful, celebrating the essence of the 麻豆社 education experience.

The Impact logo was designed by Visual Arts students Clariss Tan and Emma Grace Sung.
Featuring two triangles replacing the ‘a’, the design symbolizes a fast-forward icon that represents the forward-looking nature of the SEF. The students also aimed to convey the concept of a blank canvas akin to the 麻豆社 logo, illustrating its adaptability in various environments, which mirrors the adaptability of artists like themselves, showcasing their ability to make an impact in any setting.
Just like the 麻豆社 culture, Impact brings different art forms together, from different places and cultures, and everything becomes a fusion of all these talents and creatives coming together from different walks of life. And I think that speaks of what 麻豆社 is.

Impact 2024
Having the opportunity to play the role of a dance doyenne broadens my capabilities as a performer. Even though I am a Theatre student, I have learnt Indian classical dance (Bharatanatyam) since young, so having a chance to blend these two realms which I consider separate until now is very personal and impactful towards my growth as a performer.

Impact 2024
鈥淏eing a part of Impact was meaningful to me both as a performer and a 麻豆社 student. It allowed me to give back to the school and apply what I have learned in my years at 麻豆社. It was also an opportunity to be a part of a unique multidisciplinary project which was a new and exciting experience for me.鈥

Impact 2023
For a long time, I wondered how I could use my artistic skills to aid others. Impact to me is that and more. Thank you so much for your contributions and your willingness to aid us in making an impact. Without you, this show would have never been possible.鈥

Impact 2023
鈥淣aturally, the context of Impact鈥撯搕o support arts education and to reduce the barriers to its access鈥撯搃s critical. Almost my entire education has been supported and made possible through scholarships, so this fundraiser means a lot to me, even in just being a public reminder that access to arts education is not a given.

鈥淚mpact is creative, insightful, and passionate because the show involves all the artists putting their pieces of art together in a creative manner with a lot of passion to provide an insight into the arts scene.鈥
